Life is tough

Getting a job is hard. I have to be really professional and use the key words. I have no idea! I've never done this before! Sure they taught us at school but...this aint no class room. This is real life! I'm not totally hopeless. I trust the LORD will provide not only a job but the right words for the cover letter. I just don't know how to make a cover letter "POP". I really need to organize my portfolio. The career services director at my school is helping me out. She sends me job postings and stuff. She's a big help! I think I have a little Peter Pan syndrome. I'm scared to grow up. I WANT to grow up by working but I feel nervous about the thought of keeping the job, and will I enjoy the job? What if I don't like my job? What if it creates a lot of stress for me? What if I don't do a good job and I get fired? What if I can't do the job? What if the boss is mean? What if? What if?......LORD, I really need you right now!!!

The Thief On The Cross

It's so perplexing how the people of Ireland believe that it's good works that get them into heaven but there is a story of a man that didn't do any good works that was able to find his way into heaven at the 11th hour and the 59th minute. The thief that was crucified next to Jesus came to a realization that he deserved his treatment but Jesus did not. He knew his punishment was just and he felt bad for it. After he declared his own guilt and Jesus' innocence he asked Jesus if he would just remember him when he got to Heaven. So he knew that Jesus was the Son of God. Jesus then said to him, "Today you will be with me in Paradise." 3 things: he admitted he was guilty and deserved death, he acknowledged that Jesus was perfect yet he died on the cross, and he knew that Jesus was the Son of God. Also, he was apologetic. He wished he would have had a better life. That's all he did. No good works his entire life! Does that mean we can live a life of sin and ask for forgiveness on our deathbed? As the apostle Paul says it, "Of course not!" You have the freedom to do that if your stupid enough. The thief on the cross was not proud of his life so why would we be proud to say that we lived a life of sin our whole life and then asked God to forgive at the last minute? We want to leave behind a legacy. What do you want people to say about you at your funeral? Anyways, salvation is a 1 step program.

God bless!

In Ireland!

So ya, I made it to Ireland safe and sound. A team of 5. Me, Jimmy, Barbra, Ramona, and Luenda. We're gonna stay in Dublin for a couple days and then bus ride up to North East Ireland. We'll be staying at a missionary couple's home till the end of the month. I'm so excited to see what God is going to do. And yes I will keep you updated.
I was thinking about trials earlier today. And why we go through them. Everybody goes through a storm. No matter what! It happens to everyone. What's that verse? Where it says "don't be surprised about the troubles that face you as if something strange were happening to you" or something like that. Seriously. It happens to everyone, even good people. The question is...what do you do when the storm comes? Do you abandon ship or hang tight till the storm is passed?
Why do we go through hard times? Why does God allow it? Welp....so God's glory can be revealed. We would never know how awesome God is if there wasn't a storm in our lives. It's like a magician. How would you know if he's a good magician if he didn't make something disappear or saw a lady in half? It would be no trick if you just pull a rabbit out of a hat. You have to show the audience that the hat is empty. Think about the guy that was born blind. "Oh! How awful! Why God? Why?!?" So God can say "TA-DA! Blind no more!" When we go through a storm, watch closely. God is about to do a magic trick, also known as a miracle. God wants to get your attention because he is about to do something amazing! Don't miss it and don't abandon him. Hang tight, trust in him, and watch what he does! Just be patient. The worst the situation the greater the miracle! God can do anything! How is God going to pull you out of your storm. Are you watching closely? Abra kadabra!

OMGosh!

Okay so, the other night I'm walking in my room and I step on a wet spot. "That's weird, I don't remember spilling anything." I investigate some more and it turns out there is water coming from under the carpet! I'm too tired to worry about it so I just go to bed and decide to take care of it the next day. So today I tell my folks about it and they're like "Oh great!" While I was at work today, my dad took everything out of my room and took out the carpet and discovered that the water was coming from our neighbors overflown pool. Their was wet wood all over the corner of my room. I had to get a saw and cut open my walls. My room is totally empty and has no rug. I'm sleeping in the living room tonight. This has been an interesting week so far.

Alex Update

School is over and the summer has started. The first day of summer camp was today and it went well. Just have to get the routines settled in and stuff. I won't be able to work the last two weeks of summer camp because I'll be in IRELAND!!! Wow! That's weird. Anyways, every day the kids have a little bible study and then we get into our groups and discuss the bible study. I help with the 2nd graders. The theme of the camp is rain forest and each grade is a rain forest animal. We're the Tree Frogs!!! After discussion the kids went to lunch and after lunch we all walked to the city pool to go swimming! I didn't swim...I forgot my swim gear. Next time. So ya this summer is gonna be crazy busy! I got some DJ gigs coming up and weddings to go to...crazy summer! But I'm super excited! Also, please pray for me career wise. I don't really know the direction I am to go. I have a few options but I just want direction. I'm also very nervous with job hunting, interviews, sending resumes, cover letters, finding the right job, keeping it, and all that stuff. It really freaks me out. I just don't know if I'm ready for the business world. I know I shouldn't fear because God is in control but it's like being at the top of the roller-coaster realizing how how scary the ride is gonna be. You know the ride isn't gonna crash, but it's still scary. I just can't believe I'm at this point in my life already. I feel like I need to slow down and take a breather before I continue. But I can't, time is ticken away! Tick tick ticken away! (DC Talk ftw!!!) Anyways ya, my dog is shedding like crazy and me and the folks are really getting into the first season of Prison Break.
God bless!

Well...this is it. I have one more week of school left. I have a final on Wednesday morning and on Saturday morning. Go to graduation parties (June 8, 18, 19)
Go to Oregon for wedding (July 8 - 4)
Go to Ireland for missionary work (July 20 - 31)
Go to P.O.D., Head, The Chariot, and Allornothing concert (August 14)

What time is it? Summer time!

It's The Hard Knock Life For Me

Well, we finally got a wireless internet back at the Navarro house. I bought a wireless thingy at Target with the money I earned during a hard working weekend. It was for the company my dad works for. On a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I was on stage crew for a St. Patrick's Day Lip-Sync Concert. That's right, all "bands" were lip-syncing to a track on a cd. We had performers like Kelly Clarkson, Reba Macentire, Black Eyed Peas, The Who, Pat Benatar, Beyonce, and a few others. It was a lot of fun and a lot of work. Tearing down was a looooooong day too but it all payed off.
I started my last quarter for school. I'm taking a class that will help me put together a portfolio and a resume. It's only been one week but I can tell this class is gonna be really tough! I just hope it doesn't get to crazy!

Color Printers and Videos

TODAY I just finished school. One more quarter to go! Woo-Hoo! It's on Wednesday and Saturday mornings still. Go figure! But today was just waiting for the printer to be available. That school is ridiculous! It's ITT Tech and they only have like 2 color printers! And the computers kinda suck...I mean for an ITT Tech. But I didn't have anything else to do. All my work was done. Just had to print everything out. I had enough time to use Virtual DJ (a 5-day trial software I downloaded) and made a mash-up song, and even had enough time to upload it on Youtube. You can check it out on my page! I havent uploaded a video on Youtube in so long. I really wanna get a Flip camera and put more videos up. (I also want to get Adobe Pramere [video editing software])

Well, I get a one week break and then I start my last quarter! My official last day of school is March 6th.

Mad World

So what's up with the weather eh? It's all nice and sunny on the weekdays and then RAIN ON SATURDAY!!! Then nice and sunny on Sunday. Seriously...weird weather, crazy earthquakes, floods, wars, all we need now is it to rain fire. By the the time we reach 2012...well I'm not gonna go there.

So I'm still working and still going to school. One more week and I'll have one more quarter! Gotta start talking to carrier service people. Ugh! What an obligation.

My folks went and got new furniture from a cousin of ours. Hooray for new stuff! Out with the old and in with the new.

Today I am working from 12 - 5 ish and then I'm thinkin of going over to Borders to spend some birthday money.

Hope you all have a great day today and a good week! God bless!

(btw hear it's supposed to rain this weekend too!)

Write a New Note The Canadian Hockey Team a.k.a Canadian Army

Hey everyone! Yesterday I went shooting air-soft guns two hours away into the dessert in the middle of nowhere at some small abandoned military base. It was crazy fun. I got shot so bad.

I haven't really been watching the Olympics mostly because I have no TV but I saw the Canada vs. Norway hockey game at a friends house. Norway got spanked! I didn't really watch the whole game but it was pretty predictable! Seriously, Canada's army IS their hockey team! Canada and their hockey man! It's crazy! It's like Mexico and their futbol!

Lo Siento

Hey all. I haven't written a blog in a while because our wireless at home is broken, so I'm using the home computer right now. It sucks sharing internet. Haven't been able to watch Lost at all because this computer has slow internet and can't handle streaming videos.

I've been working quite a bit lately. I worked on Monday, yesterday, and now they want me to work today. God is so awesome!

So ya, we plan on getting a new wireless thingy soon so don't fret. ("but I'm not fretting.") Well....nevermind then. I'll talk to y'all later!

500 Days of Summer

Just watched (500) Days of Summer. WOW! Good movie! Highly recommended!

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Whatever happened to Flashforward?

Not much happened today except we finished watching 24 and I'm excited to start watching LOST. I was watching the show Flashforward a while back. When is that show coming back on?

Rain Fail

Well well well, turns out it DIDN'T rain today. In fact it was sunny and clear! I went to the bus stop a little different today. Instead of walking half a mile I drove and parked in a Stater Bros. parking lot and walked just around the corner to a nearby bus stop. I should have been doing that for the past 2 years! It's so much better!

Tonight we have our small group bible study but mom has to teach at another bible study so she wont be joining us tonight. But when she gets back we're gonna watch the last four episodes of 24!!!! Then we'll start watching lost on the internet! It started last night!! Woo-hoo!! TV is so much more exciting when you don't have it!

So now they say it's supposed to rain this weekend. We'll just see about that!

Shtuff = Stuff

Two business days nuthin!! This morning I checked my email and I got the serial number for the adobe software! I got it all loaded up and I've already made some shtuff! So much fun!

So we got the last 24 disk in the mail today but we can't watch it until tomorrow night because my mom is preparing for a teaching. UGH! And she says we have to watch it as a family! Oh well...I guess I can wait too.

Adobe Sweeeet!

I got the Adobe Creative Suite!!!!I bought it on JourneyEd.com because you can get a discount for being a student. So I made more room on my laptop and did a defrag. Then when I try to install it they ask for a serial number. In order to get a serial number they tell me to go to a website and give them proof of eligibility, because it's student edition so I have to prove I'm a student. I go on the website, put in a product code that came with the software, send them proof that I'm a student, and now I have to wait 2 business days for them to email me the serial number! I hate waiting! I already proved to JourneyEd that I'm a student! Why do I have to get the serial number from somewhere else? Gah!

Well, earlier today my mom took me to see her chiropractor. I got to see my good long lost friend Penny! Actually she's my mom's friend but there's a certain age you reach where you consider your parent's friends your friends too. And I grew up in the same school and church with her kids so...you get the connection.

They say it's supposed to rain on Wednesday. It figures! I walk to the bus stop on Wednesday mornings! It WOULD rain on Wednesday!!! Will this rainy season ever stop so I can wash my car?!? Geez!

"You Can Be Anything That You Want To Be"

Hey everyone. Just got back from church and a meeting at Round Table Pizza.

My school is having some students go to E3 Expo again. http://www.e3expo.com/ I went last year but this year I'm not that motivated to go. Having to register, then finding rides, blah blah blah. Not that it's much of a hassle but I just don't feel like putting that much effort into something I'm not 100% interested in. I'm more like at 57%.

That reminds me of something that's been on my mind lately. You know the saying "You can be anything that you want to be"? I was thinking if there was any truth in that. I think it's true IF your heart is fully dedicated and God is on your side. I know thats a very Christian way of putting it but that's because I AM a Christian! Makes sense right? So first thing: If your heart is fully in it. If you are willing to go through fire and flames to reach a goal, I think you can do it if your willing to make sacrifices. Like Rudy. If you haven't seen Rudy you really should! It's a good movie. He wanted so bad to play at least one game of football for Notre Dame. He was small and had a small learning disability so it seemed really slim for him to even get into Notre Dame. But he kept pushing forward even after being rejected so many times. He didn't let anything stop him! If your THAT motivated, you can reach your goal. Secondly, if God is on your side. The Bible says that we can "do everything through Christ, who gives us the strength." Key word is 'through Christ'. If God can do anything he wants, however he wants to do it, he can fulfill your dream. But that is, if your dream is what God wants for your life. If your dream in life is to rob casinos, chances are that's not something God put on your heart. That's something that your flesh and your own mind wants to do. But if you have a strong desire to be a famous singer, start a business, or run for president, first thing you should do before you get the ball rolling is ask God if HE'S the one that put it on your heart to be a professional baseball player, or start a band, or become a famous writer. If you know that God put that desire in your heart and you decide that you will stop at nothing to reach that goal, then you can be anything you want to be.

Now what if God puts a desire in your heart and you try to do it and you really stink at it? Like Nacho Libre. He really felt that the Lord put it in his heart to wrestle, but he couldn't even fight a couple guys on the street. He got paid to wrestle in matches but he would always lose and he would always spend his losing money on 'nice boots and stretchy pants'. Once Nacho decided to pray to the Lord and ask him why he put it on his heart to wrestle but made him such a stinky warrior, he realized that the Lord wanted him to fight for the orphans, who were also on Nacho's heart. He decided to wrestle for the orphans instead of himself, spending the money on nice clothes and stretchy pants. He decided that if he won, he would spend the winning money for the orphans to go on field trips and things like that. Once he realized that he needed to fight for a noble cause instead of for himself, he won a match against the greatest fighter in mexico: Ramses!

Anyways, I'm kinda going off now but I guess my main point is; if you feel that God has put something on your heart, be in prayer and ask the Lord what he wants you to do and ask the Lord for strength, because He can help you overcome the obstacles. If you have anything you want to add or comment on, please do so. Thanks and have a nice week!

Portals!

I woke up this morning with ease! Surprise surprise! I went to bed last night at about 1am, my alarm was set for 6:15am and I actually woke up at 6:00am. I beat my alarm! I wasn't even in morning zombie mode! What's up with that?

I did some cool stuff in class today with 3DS MAX. I'll post them up in my photos. We're putting together a booklet for whatever topic we choose but apparently it has to be something that doesn't exists. For instance, I was going to do it on Football Hooligans, but football hooligans really exist. So I decided to do it on portals used for transportation from one point to another. It's coming along pretty good except, what the heck do I write about portals? Any suggestions? My idea is to write it like it's a new form of transportation that involves technology. You type in a portal address for a city or whatever and the portal opens up and you walk through and your there! Something like that. You probably have no idea what I'm talking about so I'll just move on.

Actually I'll just end it here because nothing else really happened today and nothing else is really on my mind. Bye guys!

Ireland Meeting 2Night

Tonight me and my mom are going to a Team Ireland meeting for the missionary trip to Ireland. There is going to be a meeting every Friday at the Lewis's house. Mrs. Lewis is the one leading the team. She's the head honcho. (or is it honcha?) I like going to the Lewis' house. They make REALLY good coffee!

Dad is going to his friend from work's house to have a musician's party. At 10:00 were all gonna meet at home and watch 24! I think we got 2 more discs to go! We get 24 in the mail from Netflix.

This is gonna be hard. It's gonna be a late night and I have to get up early for class tomorrow. I hate having a Saturday morning class!

Busy Busy Busy

Well, me and the folks talked to the Dean of my school and it turns out he's gonna talk to the right guy for us. He didn't guarantee that we would be able to slide and not pay more money for the extra classes but he said he will try to talk to his boss. So it's still a 50/50 shot.

I had to go over to the school to fill out some W4 stuff. I filled it out kinda late so I wont get paid for the two days that I worked there. Dang. At least it got taken care of now.

I'm excited because I ordered an Adobe Suite online. I should be getting it in the mail soon! It's got Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, InDesign, and lots of other fun stuff. I'd like to have Adobe Premiere, which is a video editing software, but I can get that later. My dad actually has the cd somewhere, but he lost it and the program itself is in his crashed computer. Bummer.
Well, until next time!

Today Was...Not Good

Hey everyone! Guess what I got today! That's right, FREE CANDY! At my school, when students renew their FASFA they give out free candy! Isn't that nice! I really needed it since I'm going through so much stuff with them. I AM going to take an extra quarter even though I was supposed to graduate in March. I need an extra quarter because I don't have enough credits to graduate but that's not my fault, it's the school's. Because a few quarters ago they messed up and put me in two classes that were on the same day at the same time and those classes weren't offered on other days. So they just dropped the class. Now I don't have enough credits to graduate in March, which is when the prices for classes go up. So what, am I supposed to pay extra for classes that I was supposed to take earlier? Heck no! So me and the folks are gonna meet with the Dean tomorrow morning to see if we can get a refund since it's only fair.

On top of that, I never filled out my paper work with HR at work (which I admit is my fault) but that means I probably wont get paid for the two days that I worked there :) Isn't that great? Today is just fantastic! So I got a lot of stuff to do tomorrow and I'll let you know how it goes down. Peace out!

Cyrus Does Not Suck

Hey everyone! A few days ago I discovered this guy named DJ Earworm. He made a mashup of the Top 25 Hits of 2009, according to Billboard. It's really cool! Check it out> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNzrwh2Z2hQ
Well someone made a comment that said something like "It's really cool but the Miley Cyrus part ruins it!" Okay, what the heck? They're just saying that because of the image she has. Obviously he or she likes the style of music if he or she likes the mashup. It's mostly all pop music. So they're saying "Oh ya I like Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga, The Fray, All American Rejects, and all those bands but I hate Miley Cyrus!" WHY? Because she's from Disney Chanel? Because you think she's a slut or her music sucks? Obviously her music does not suck if she made it on the top 25 Billboard Hits! You can't say you like artists that play a certain style and then say an artist that plays the same style sucks! Now I don't like country music but I wouldn't say that Garth Brooks sucks! He's a great country singer but because I don't like country music does that mean Garth Brooks sucks? No! You can't judge someone because you don't like their style. And you CAN'T judge someone's music because the artist is weird. Like Kanye West, he's a jerk but does that mean his music sucks? If I like Kanye West's music am I going to not listen to him because he's a jerk? No! Who cares if he's a jerk! Anyway, I hate people bagging on Miley Cyrus. She didn't DO anything, she's just an artist. If you don't' like her music than don't listen but don't say she sucks! The Jonas Brother on the other hand, they really do suck. Seriously, learn how to write music, play music, and PLEASE learn how to sing! Or break up!
Anyways, I just wanted to share that with you.
Have a nice day!

56ers Rule!

One month till my birthday! I'm almost at the age where I dont care anymore. It's like "oh my birthday is coming up! Whoop-dee-doo!" Anyways, I got to work today from 1-5. After school shift. It was actually pretty fun. Basically it's just babysitting. The fifth and sixth graders are so cool! I like them! They're fun! I watched over them in the computer lab and watched them play this online networking game thingy. It was really cool and it looked fun so I joined them. They were showing me how to do and stuff, it was really fun! They even got me into starting a blog on Blogger.com. So ya you gotta check that out! http://alexolsennavarro.blogspot.com/

So ya...gooby-gop! I've been trying to work on missionary-trip-to-ireland stuff. Writing my support letter, talking to my pastor and stuff. Tell you more about it when the times comes.

Well that's all for now. Catch you guys later!

I'm @ Work (1/25/2010)

I'm at work, in the computer lab with the 56ers. (5th and 6th graders) I see these kids have a blog on blogger and I though "The heck? Why dont I have one?" So here I am. I've been keeping a blog on myspace and facebook for a few days.
